Integrated Public Transportation System with Shared Autonomous Vehicles and Fixed-Route Transits: Dynamic Traffic Assignment-Based Model with Multi-Objective Optimization

Abstract The shared autonomous vehicle (SAV) system is considered as an efficient transportation mode in the future. In literature, optimization of SAV systems has been extensively studied. However, could bring greater social benefits if we use them with existing public systems, such bus rapid transit (BRT), integrated manner. This study proposes a model SAV-BRT system, that takes advantage flexibility SAVs and mass transport capability BRT. proposed based on dynamic traffic assignment so it captures important features endogenous congestion, detour waiting SAVs, BRT’s scheduling. formulated multi-objective problem trade-off relations regarding system’s performance can be explicitly analyzed. behavior investigated by conducting numerical experiments actual travel data obtained from urban area Japan. As result, confirmed behaves reasonably, several insights have obtained.
